FORCE Certification has established the UK entity FORCE Certification UK Limited to provide product certification services for clients in UK and clients exporting to the UK market.
FORCE Certification UK Limited is established in London, where the product certification activities are managed.
From January 1, 2023, the transition period for conformity assessment of products ends, and CE-marking is no longer accepted when placing the products on the UK market, excl. Northern Ireland. UKCA marking becomes mandatory for products that were previously covered by European Directives, and conformity assessments will have to be performed according to the corresponding UK regulations.
Where EU-notified bodies have been involved in product certification for the European market, it is now required that UK-approved bodies perform the conformity assessment for UKCA-marked products.
FORCE Certification UK Limited has applied for accreditation and approval body recognition for product certification according to:
- Construction Products Regulation (CPR)
- Measuring Instrument Regulation (MIR)
- Non-automatic Weighing Instrument Regulation (NAWIR)
- Personal Protective Equipment (Enhanced) Regulation (PPER)
The approval process is now underway with the relevant UK Authorities. We expect to be an approved body for UKCA certification in time for our clients to be able to market their products in the UK.
For conformity assessments of products according to UK regulations that are not under application to UK authorities, we have agreed with the existing UK-approved bodies to continue the existing scope of product certification services. This includes Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulation (PE(S)R) and Marine Equipment (Red Ensign).
We are pleased to assist our clients with information regarding the UK certification process before they initiate the application for product certification to the UK market, so the certification process can be finalised before January 1, 2023.
Please note Great Britain does not recognise authorised representatives and responsible persons based in the EU. This means that if you need to (or choose to) use an authorised representative or responsible person, they will need to be based in the UK for products being placed on the UK market – excluding Northern Ireland.
