Transport Canada Authorization
FORCE Certification A/S has been authorized by Transport Canada for approval of life-saving appliances and fire safety systems, equipment and produts as specified in schedule A the agreement between Transport Canada and FORCE Certification A/S:
Types of life-saving appliances, regulations and policies covered by this agreement
This Agreement covers Type Approval, in accordance with TP 14612 – Procedures for approval of life-saving appliances and fire safety systems, equipment and products, of the life-saving appliances listed in section 2 of this Schedule, for which FORCE Certification A/S is authorized to provide testing and certification per the scope of accreditation issued by its national accreditation body, and in accordance with:
- the following Regulations:
- Small Vessel Regulations
- Fishing Vessel Safety Regulations
- Large Fishing Vessel Inspection Regulations
- Life Saving Equipment Regulations
- Vessel Construction and Equipment Regulations
- Vessel Fire Safety Regulations
- The following Policies:
- ANSI/CAN/UL-12402-4, Personal Flotation Devices – Part 4: Lifejackets, Performance Level 100 – Safety Requirements as per Tier I – Policy – Accepting lifejackets certified to UL12402-4 as equivalent to those certified to CAN/CGSB-65.7-M88 or CAN/CGSB 65.7-2007 CLASS 2 (canada.ca)
- ANSI/CAN/UL-12402-5: Personal Flotation Devices – Part 5: Buoyancy Aids (level 50) – Safety Requirements as per Acceptance of Level 70 Buoyancy Aids Certified to UL12402-5 as Personal Flotation Devices (canada.ca)
The following types of life-saving appliances are covered by this agreement:
- Lifejackets (SOLAS),
- Lifejackets (non-SOLAS),
- Personal flotation devices
- Lifejacket and personal flotation device components
- Immersion suits
- Thermal protective aids
- Marine anti-exposure work suits
- Self-igniting lights
- Personal locator lights
- Lifebuoys
Note: Authorizations under Schedule A include the review and approval of any plans, documents and booklets required to be approved under the relevant Conventions in addition to those mentioned above
