Measuring Instruments MIR & NAWIR
FORCE Certification UK Limited is about to be appointed as UK Approved Body by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy for carrying out the conformity assessment of measuring instruments according to the Measuring Instrument Regulation (MIR) and Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments Regulation (NAWIR).
Products, which are covered by these regulations (MIR & NAWIR), must undergo an assessment before the manufacturer can issue a declaration of conformity and mark the measuring instrument according to the regulation.
Measuring equipment covered by the MIR shall comply with the requirements of Measuring Instrument Regulation (MIR) 2016 – No. 1153, as amended. Measuring equipment covered by the NAWIR shall comply with the requirements of Non-automatic Weighing Instrument Regulation (NAWIR) 2016 – Schedule 26, as amended.
FORCE Certification UK Limited will be approved for conformity assessment according to modules B, D and G of NAWIR and MIR .
Certification of scales and other weighing instruments
In UK non-automatic weighing instrument (NAWIR) intended to be used for legal transactions or medical treatment shall have an UK Type Examination Certificate (UK TEC) according to Non-automatic Weighing Instrument Regulation (NAWIR) 2016 before being placed on the market.
Likewise, automatic weighing instruments (AWI) and multi-dimensional measuring instruments (MDMI) intended to be used for legal transactions shall have an Type Examination Certificate (UK TEC) according to Measuring Instrument Regulation (MIR) 2019 before being placed on the market.
Automatic weighing instruments for weighing of vehicles in motion (WIM) is still under national regulation. FORCE Technology’s test reports, which are issued according to WELMEC agreement of recognition of test report and OIML R134, are accepted by the other European countries.
For type examination and type testing we use the modular approach when possible in order to minimise the amount of testing and at the same time allowing an flexible solution using the Compatibility of Modules scheme.
